A HUGE thank you!

I don't want to turn into one of those boring people who talks about nothing but their kids but I want to say a big public thanks to all the staff at Holles Street. Our little girl, Abigail Daisy, arrived by emergency c-section 14 weeks early on Saturday morning. The staff were all fantastic throughout and still are. Abigail is doing really well but will need a lot of looking after for a while and, again the staff are fantastic. She's in I.C.U. 1 where she's getting the best care possible so thank you so much to everyone involved.

She's the first "Q102 baby" as her mum, Emma, used to work here too! We're so proud of her so we thought we'd show her off here!

That's my hand in the first picture and Emma's finger holding her foot in the second one!! She really is tiny but she's doing great.

Thanks again to everyone in Holles Street for taking such good care of mum and baby and thanks to everyone for the good wishes, flowers and presents.

Liam, Emma and Abigail

Our new neighbourhood!

Walking to the IFSC for lunch today we saw the new Luas bridge which is going in just up the street from Dublin's Q102's new headquarters. It'll hopefully be all finished by the end of the year and we'll be able to hop on the Luas right outside our front door!! The bridge is the white one in the background of the picture!

The right to dry!

Yesterday 'On the QT' we were joined by Ben Davis from www.right2dry.org - who in a bid to save energy, and money, are campaigning for people to return to using the humble washing line!
Currently a petition is underway to encrouage Michelle Obama to set a good example - by hanging out her laundry on the White House lawn! So why don't you get involved and get out those clothes pegs!

We've made the 'Switch' .... !

Dublin's Q102's official switch to Macken House went without incident just after 7pm last night, as Robbie Kane from Boogie Night's , broadcast his show 'Live' from there with a little help from assistant P.D Shane Smyth and station P.A Carol Saint John.
Neil Murray from Night Cruising also had a smooth transition into the wee small hours of this morning...

Money Money Money

It's another one of those big Euromillions jackpots tonight with about €55 million up for grabs. Like most people I've been daydreaming about what I could buy with that sort of money!

Obviously all blokes will want a flash car and they don't come more flash than the Aston Martin One-77. They're only making 77 of them (hence the name) and each owner will be invited to visit the factory to have their car built to their own exact specifications! So how much of my money will I have to spend on this flash car? €1.75 million!

That would leave me with enough money left over to buy the world's most expensive private jet - The Gulfstream 550 which I can get for just €45 million!

Sadly I won't have enough for the world's most expensive yacht which comes in at €153 million!!! That's a helicoptor on the back of it!

How about a nice house? Again, I can't quite afford this one! It's called Updown Court and it has 23 bedrooms. The price tag is €79 million but you get a fair bit of house for your money! Have a look at the video.

Happy shopping!

Write to Gordon Brown!

Yesterday on 'On the QT' we talked to Eoin Ryan MEP regarding the plans to build 2 new nuclear facilities by the year 2025 at Sellafield, as part of the new British Government energy policy. What is extraordinary about this, is that on April 1st there was a loss of vital coolant water in storage tanks in the high level waste complex. These storage tanks can hold up to 1000 cubic metres of radioactive waste. The reality is that the B30 pond at Sellafield is still home to massive amounts of radioactive waste which has not been adequately treated for decades.

So if this concerns you, why not write to Gordon Brown? Here's his address:

Introducing the latest must-have item for the rich/famous who don't have to worry about counting the pennies (or the calories!) this summer!
London store Selfridges have just added this new swimsuit to their shelves and it's a steal at just £2,000!
The lavish swimming togs by label Pistol Panties has hand-embroidered with 5,000 Swarovski crystals in tones of ruby, sapphire, emerald and gold.
Despite most of us cutting back at the mo Selfridges says they're expecting rabid interest from fashion fans for the bikini, and they have already set up a waiting list in advance!!!
That's one list we won't be scrambling to get our names on!!!

Dublin's Q102 is on the move,,,

This Friday will be a sad day in the history of Dublin's Q102 as we say goodbye to our home of almost 9 years at Glenageary Office Park. We will be moving to state-of-the-art facilities right next to the O2 and we're very excited... Meantime even the boss was getting into the spirit of things today by helping us take down some shelves!!!

Who needs the Metro!

U.S. car giant General Motors has teamed up with Segway - the people who make those odd scooters - to create what they reckon will be the urban transport vehicle of the future. It's call PUMA (Personal Urban Mobility and Accessability) and it will run on an electric motor that will allow it to travel over 50 km on a single charge. It has a top speed of 56kph and can carry two people!

The makers say they will be able to fit it with technology which will allow PUMAs to "talk" to one another, which will allow better control of city traffic flow. All very well when there's only PUMAs on the road but would you want to argue with a 46A in one of these?? Have a look at this video and tell me what you think.

Happy Easter

I just wanted to wish you all a Happy Easter and I hope you are all treating yourselves to lots of chocolate! My little girl Amie may be too young for chocolate but isn't too young for Mammy to dress her up. (I am sure she will hate me for this photo in about 15 years!)

Have a great Easter Sunday. And If you are still up after eating all those eggs...I will be on from midnight until 6am on Monday, April 13th.

Boldly Going.....

Let me start by saying I'm not a Trekkie; I can't speak Klingon and I don't own a Starfleet uniform. Having said that, I'm really looking forward to the new Star Trek movie which hits cinemas on May 8th. I've seen trailers and it looks great.
So you can imagine how pleased I was this week when I got an email inviting me to a special private screening of the film next week!! I get to see it three weeks early - sometimes this job comes with great perks!

Of course I'll report back and tell you what it's like. In the meantime here's trailer to whet your appetite

And if you like the look of that why not have a look at the official Star Trek movie website here

Live long and prosper (sorry I couldn't resist!)

Big Haired Horses

Yes this is a picture of a Horse in a wig. And it has made me laugh all morning. I can't take my eyes off it.

Aussie Photographer Julian Wolkentsein came up with the idea to put hair extensions on horses. I'd love to know what was going through his mind when he came up with the idea. I guess he was just horsing around!

Sorry that was a lame joke.

Oh dear.

Some things never change

Myself and Emma (often referred to on Dublin's Q102 as "she who must be obeyed"!) went for a bite to eat in town last night. After the usual discussion where neither of us wants to decide where we go, we ended up in Pizza Stop on Chatham Lane. I don't want this to sound like a plug for them I just think they deserve a mention.

It's about 20 years since I first discovered Pizza Stop and it hasn't changed a bit in all that time. They still do the same pizzas (I always have their Pizza Roma) and the place looks exactly the way it always has with red chequered tablecloths and wine bottles for candlesticks. There's a real Italian feel to the place, it's not fine dining by any means but there's always a nice atmosphere and the pizzas are huge!!

Like I said, I'm not trying to plug them but I think it's nice every now and then to say well done to a bunch of people who are good at what they do and keep doing it.

Dancing bird!

Emails you can't bank on!

This morning I received a very professional
looking email which appeared to come from my bank, asking for my login details....

In fact it's completely fake and was sent by somebody trying to glean my details! (a process my old DIT lecturer used to call "Phishing").

If I had clicked on the "link" provided in the email, I would have been shown an extremely professional looking RECREATION of the bank's own login page. Had I entered my details, I would, albeit unknowingly, be handing them over to this "scammer"!

So how do you avoid being stung by dodgy emails like this one?

Easy! Banks are continually reminding us that they will NEVER contact us by email and ask us for our account/login details. So if you get an email like this, delete it immediately. You can also report it to your bank.

You'll find more helful tips here.

Hello Nightcruising Listeners

Okay so nobody probably noticed I was away. But for the one or two people that did....well I am back after 6 months Maternity Leave! I had little girl called Amie in October. And yes all the cliches are true. We can't imagine life without her.

It's great to be back on air and it feels like I have never been away. but I am sure I will miss Amie. I may have to sneak her into the Studio. So don't be surprised if you hear a baby crying in the background. (Only joking Bosses of Dublin's Q102!)

So send me a text between 1am and 6am. Maybe you can't sleep or are up late feeding your Baby! (Mammys and Daddys of Dublin.... I feel your Pain).

Whatever you are up to, I'd love to hear from you.

Who stuck the ball in the Italian net??!!!

Hey there Mathieu from Dublin's Q102's Nightcruising here,

It seems Irish sport is on roll at the moment, first it was the Irish Rugby team winning the Grand Slam, then Dublin boxer Bernard Dunne becoming a world champion and now Tallaght man Robbie Keane has literally kept that winning ball rolling after getting a last gasp goal against Italy. Ok so we might not have actually won the game, but a draw in Italy against the world champions is as good as a win to me!!

Well done to Robbie and the rest of the Irish team!!

Have a 'ball' today!!!

Showbuzz - Britney's magical ever changing body!!!

A very unflattering pic of Britney performing was released last month but it seems that star has managed to get everthing in order for her new ad campaign for American label Candie's.
The pictures for the campaign released today show a much thinner Britney compared to the image of her performing in New Jersey last month.
Some say that her flat tum and lean limbs seen in the adverts are just down to lots of airbrushing but I like to think Spears was just caught at an unflattering angle last month, we've all been there!!!

Happy Wednesday!
